What is the main point about the book to kill a mockingbird

mockingbirds are discussed a couple of times in the story as teaching and reference points for the way people should behave

The main point is to not judge anyone for who they are and to treat everyone equally no matter the color of their skin, their social class etc.. everyone needs to be treated fairly
