Addition of fertilizers to stimulate plant growth will likely to increase the abundance of toxic chemicals in land and water which will lead to contamination of land and water. All these situations are responsible for damaging the environment.

Putting research and money into renewable energy will not cause damage to the environment. As the energy harnessed by the renewable sources of energy like solar energy, tidal energy, geothermal energy will not produce pollution.
