Helped make the Chesapeake colonies models of mercantilism.During 1700s tobacco was a major cash crop in Chesapeake colonies. most of the tobacco was cultivated by slaves who planted and parked it for it to be sold inĀ  Europeans and Africans.many plantation owners were able to increase their fortunes by selling tobacco during 1619 and 1775
