Area of a circle :

So, area of a SEMIcircle:

`(1)/(2) \pi \: r {}^(2)`
Area of a right-angled triangle:

`(1)/(2) * base * height`
Area of the shaded region :

`(1)/(2) * 3.14 * 6 {}^(2) - (1)/(2) * 12 * 6 \\ = 56.52 - 36 \\ = 20.52 \: {yd}^(2)`

Base of the triangle is 6+6 = 12.
