to get +3 you need to times -3 by -1
to get 7y^2 you need to time 7y by y

To find the missing factor:

${7y}^(2) - 10y + 3 \\ by \: cross \: method \\ (y - 1)(7y + 3)$
thus the answer is (y-1)
