Step One
Set up a proof for congruent triangles.
By SAS The triangles are congruent. That comes from the fact that <ABD = <ABE (a perpendicular to a straight line will produce 2 right angles) if they are interior to a triangle as well)
DB = BE That comes from the bisector part of the givens.
AB = AB That's always true.

AD = AE Congruent triangles have equal corresponding sides.

Step Two
Set up the equation.
AD = AE
x - 10 = 2x - 34 Add 34 to both sides.
x - 10 + 34 = 2x
x + 24 = 2x Subtract x from both sides.
24 = 2x - x
24 = x

Answer C <<<<<

Problem 2
Find AD if AD = x - 10

Givens
x = 24 from the previous question.

Solve
AD = 24 - 10
AD = 14
