The median weight of 11 cats in a pet store is 7 pounds. Which action could CHANGE the median?

A:The store gets a new 7-pound cat.
B:A 12-pound cat loses 2 pounds.
C:A 3-pound cat gains 2 pounds.
D:The store gets a new 12-pound cat.

The answer is D. B and C are the wrong because median is the "middle" of all the cats, as so the individual weights of the cats will not change the median. A will also not change the median because the total number of cats would be even and having two 7 pound cats will make the median 7. The answer is D.
