We can use the cross multiply then divide method to solve this question.
(12 4/5)/x = 1/(1/4)
((64/5)*(1/4))/1 = x
(3 1/5)/ 1 = x
3 1/5 = x
So the room on paper would be 3 and 1/5 inches.

Try this: (12 4/5 ft)* ----------- = 3.2 inches, or 3 2/10 inches, or 3 1/5 inches.
