Explain how to write the equation y – 2 = 5(x + 7) in slope-intercept form.

the slope intercept form is
y = mx + b
and m is the slope of the line and
b is the y-intercept.
so:
y – 2 = 5(x + 7)
first: multiply the x and 7 found inside the parentheses by 5 and you will get
y – 2 = 5x + 35
then: add the 2 to the other side of the equal sign and you are adding it because you have to change the sign when it comes to changing the place of one variable from one side to the other, thus you get:
y = 5x + 37
which is going to be your final answer, hope this helps!!!

Slope intercept form is y = mx + b so in order to get that you would add the 2 over to the 5 (x + 7) so it turns into y = 5(x + 9) then you distribute the 5 and get y = 5x +45 as your answer
