$15.99x2 +2.99+3.99= subtotal
subtotal x .089= Tax due
tax due + subtotal = total spent
38.96*.089= 3.46
3.46 +38.96= 42.42744
so altogether with tax, Joseph and Tyler spent $42.43 at the hobby store
