GSIS or Glucose-Stimulated Insulin Release

It is when glucose cause a rapid insulin release through adenosine triphosphate-sensitive K+ channel-dependent mechanism, which is gradually augmented in a K-ATP channel-independent manner.

Physiological insulin release allows the glucose to enter the cells to be used as energy, maintaining the glucose amount in the bloodstream.
