Why would those who started the French Revolution and created the famous the decleration of Rights of Man and of the citizen say that the revolution was not successful?

France moved from an absolute monarchy to a military dictatorship

Some of the main reasons why the french revolution was dubbed a failure by those who had conceived are, first because, it did not usher in a democratic government, but catapulted the rise of Bonaparte, a military dictator.
Secondly, the revolution was rocked in violence and justice system was taken over by a kangaroo system.Thirdly,it did not grant civil rights to women.
