Please type this equation all on one line!

1178
=

−
1180 should be 1430 - 1178 = x - 1180.
Then 252 = x - 1180. Adding 1180 to both sides, 1432 = x (answer)
Use "x" to represent an unknown. Don't use a box □ .

1180 - 252 = 1432
1432 + 252
1430 - 1178 = 252
252 = 252
