Hey there!

First, we have to get rid of the "
x" value

So, Divide "
2" on each of your sides

Like:
(2x)/(2) = (-16)/(2)

Cancel out:
(2x)/(2) because it gives you the value of
1

Keep:
(-16)/(2) because it'll give you the outcome of our answer

So,
(-16)/(2) =
-8

Therefore,
x = -8

Good luck on your assignment and enjoy your day!

Hey there! :)

If you switch it around, it becomes: -16 ÷ 2 = x
(Remember that the sign changes when moved to the other side)

-16 ÷ 2 = -8

x = -8

Hope this helps :)
