The Spanish-American war started in 1898 on April 21 and ended on August 13 in Cuba and Puerto Rico (Caribbean Sea) and Philippines and Guam (Asia-Pacific).

It resulted in the Americans winning the war and the Treaty of Paris being signed. Spain claimed power over Cuba and gave up Puerto Rico, Guam and the Philippine Islands to the United States for a hefty amount of $20 million.
