B. He married Anne Boleyn in defiance of the Pope. Henry VIII, in search of a male heir to his throne, went against the papal decision to not divorce Henry from Catherine of Aragon (that was unable to give the king the male heir he wanted). He then secretly married Anne Boleyn, amidst the political scenario created by the king (so he could divorce himself from Catherine) that paved way to the English Reformation, a movement that transformed England from a Catholic country to a Protestant one.
