What is the pattern in the infinite sequence below?

-3, -1, 1, 3, 5, ...
Multiply the term number by 2, then subtract 5.
Multiply the term number by 3, then subtract 6.
Multiply the term number by 4, then subtract 7.
Multiply the term number by 5, then subtract 8.

I was thinking that the sequence was adding 2 everytime by the looks of it. There has to be a typo somewhere.
