Kat is painting the edge of a triangular stage prop with reflective orange paint. The lengths of the edges of the triangle are (3x – 4) feet, (x2 – 1) feet, and (2x2 – 15) feet. What is the perimeter of the triangle if x = 4?

if x equals four then it would be 3(4) -1 + 4(2)-1 +2(4)(2) -15 what should equal

Answer: 40 feet.

Explanation:

Given : The lengths of the edges of the triangle are
(3x-4) feet,
(x^2-1) feet, and
(2x^2-15) feet.

Since , the perimeter of any figure is the sum of all its edges.

Then the perimeter of the give triangle will be :-


P(x)=3x-4+x^2-1+2x^2-15\\\\=3x^2+3x-20

At x= 4


P(4)=3(4)^2+3(4)-20=40

Hence, the perimeter of the triangle if x = 4 will be 40 feet.
