People should withhold the truth if it is going to hurt somebody.

I personally disagree.

Even if it is a painful truth you can't keep it from somebody for long. I feel as though the situation will only become more problematic than if you had told them right then and there. Not only would they be hurt by the truth, but they would also be hurt that you decided not to tell them. It could lead to them to thinking you're not honest nor trustworthy and they would believe you have no integrity. That could only damage your future friendship/relationship with that person. So I feel it would be better to just tell them then and there instead of keeping it away from them.

Truly this I believe this could go either way. So this is mainly an opinion question, based on what you think is right. In my personal opinion, no I don't think that people should withhold the truth, because that person is going to find out eventually. And if they know ahead of time then they can prepare for it.
