Answer: The rocket inspired American inventors to turn their attention to railroads

why: Railroads were invented before the rocket and they were certainly not inspired by them.

Answer:

I believe #1, the one about a rocket... we didn't go to space until the 20th century and in the early 19th century I don't think that would be on their minds
