Answer: He is incorrect because the area of the tent is 4.08m2 and not 408m2

Explanation:

A tent has a length of 240cm and a breadth of 170cm and a friend claims the area of the tent is 408 m2.

To calculate the area of the tent, we convert the length and breadth in centimeters to meters. Recall that 100 centimeters= 1 meter. This will give:

Length = 240cm = 240/100 = 2.4m

Breadth= 170cm = 170/100 = 1.7m

Area = Length × Breadth

= 2.4m × 1.7m

= 4.08m2

He is incorrect because the area of the tent is 4.08m2 and not 408m2.

we know that
area of the tent=length*breath
length=240 cm---convert to m---> 240/100----> 2.40 m
breath=170 cm----convert to m---> 170/100----> 1.70 m

find the area
area=2.40*1.70-----> area=4.08 m²

therefore

the answer is
the friend's statement is incorrect the area is 4.08 m²
