Al-Qaeda was a group of Arab and Afghans who were earlier funded by CIA to fight against the invading forces of Russia.

After the Russian war ended, these Arabs stayed in Afghanistan and became close to the government structure there.

Mostly living in caves and valleys of Afghanistan, these people have strict tribal codes of conduct which they do not forgo easily.
