The coefficient of a variable is the number that multiplies the variable.The coefficient of x is -5.

A coefficient of the variable is the number next to a variable (in this case x). All other numbers are constants (because they do not change, or vary). Remember that the number also brings it's sign (+ or -)
A) -5
