the domain of the inequality is all real numbers except the interval [-4,1]
if the values are a solution of the inequality then they must satisfy the inequality

case a) (1,-6)
is not solution ------> it is not in the shaded area
and x=1 belong to the interval [-4,1]

case b) (2,-2)
is a solution------->
is in the shaded area
and x=2 does not belong to the interval [-4,1]

case c) (3,0)
is a solution
------> is in the shaded area
and x=3 does not belong to the interval [-4,1]

case d) (4,5)
is a solution
------> is in the shaded area
and x=4 does not belong to the interval [-4,1]
