x---------> total oranges that
farmer brown pick up
we know that
Farmer brown
gave 3/8 to john
so
If John has ---------> 3/8x
then
Steve has-------> (x-(3/8)x)*(2/3)-----> (5/8)x*(2/3)----> (10/24)x
75=(10/24)x
x=75*24/10
x=180 oranges
the answer is
180 oranges
