Pros and cons of canopy fogging?

Canopy fogging is a techniques of spraying of pesticides such as pyrethrine in the canopy of tall trees of forests.

Pros of canopy fogging are:

• It kills the insects very rapidly and the falling insects are collected for investigation.

• These pesticides are not harmful to other animals such as birds on the trees

• The natural pyrethrine is safe to use because it breaks down by UV-radiation within 10 minutes.

Cons of canopy fogging are:

• Canopy fogging can be done only during night.

• The night should be windless or calm weather.

• Inhalation of fog may cause irritation in lungs causes breathing problems.
