If you're referring x^2 (as in x squared), then the solutions are x = (-7-sqrt17)/2
and x= (sqrt17-7)/2

x^2 = -7x -8

x^2 +7x +8 = 0

D = 49 -32 = 17

x_1,2 = (-7+/-sqrt17)/2 = (-7-sqrt17)/2 and (-7+sqrt17)/2
