So the degree of a polynomial is by the term with the highest combined power. In this case, the term with the highest combined power is
-6x^3y^2. With this term, add 3 and 2 together since they are the two powers in this term, which make 5.

And because the combined powers equal 5, this polynomial is 5th degree.
