you add the alike variables first so -6n + 3n = -3n

then the equation is -3n=-18
Now divide each side by -3 to get the n by itself

-3n -18
--- = ------
-3 -3

n=6

First simplify. Combine like terms

-6n + 3n = -3n

-3n = -18

Isolate the n, divide -3 from both sides

-3n/-3 = -18/-3

n = -18/-3

n = 6 (remember, in dividing two negative numbers, the answer will be positive).

6 is your answer

hope this helps
