Correct Answer:

England wanted Indian soldiers to use gun cartridges that are coated with animal fat. The soldiers had to bite off the end of the cartridges. Contact with the fat would be an offense to the soldier's religion. Also, the British treated the soldiers unfairly.

Have a good one, E

Hello, 3Coli here!

Here is your answer to this question:

The British wanted Hindu and Muslim soldiers (Sepoys) to use rifle cartridges that were greased with pig and cow fat. The Sepoys had to bite off the end of the cartridges. Contact with the fat would be an offense to the sepoys’ religion, since avoiding pork and beef was a tradition. They also increased taxes. The new land taxes made it difficult for many to grow enough food. Many people were hungry from this effect. So the Sepoys rebelled against the British. The Sepoy Rebellion was also called the First War of Independence in India.

Hopefully, this helps! :D
