Hello to answer your question fully.

The aorta begins at the top of the left ventricle, the heart's muscular pumping chamber. The heart pumps blood from the left ventricle into the aorta through the aortic valve. If it is damaged it can cause cause problems because the left atrium receives oxygenated blood back from the lungs. It will cause your blood to feed off the non-oxygenated blood causing a cardiac arrest and causing a rare condition called: A.L.C.A.P.A ( Anomalous left coronary artery from the pulmonary artery) which can result in death. Or serious damage for life. It comprises 0.4% of all congenital heart diseases making it super rare.
