Which line creates a dark and gloomy tone? (5 points)

Fog rolled thickly in over the fields, shrouding the crops in the gray of a drab winter day.

Light bounced across the water, shimmering on the surface like jewels.

The house creaked and groaned like an old woman trailing a history of grief.

The golden red leaves shimmered in the light wind, and lit the edges of the cold day.

I think the answer is A, while C does seem like it could be it, I believe it's A.

"The house creaked and groaned like an old woman trailing a history of grief," would most likely create a dark and gloomy tone, considering it mentions the old woman's history of grief. Yet, "fog rolled thickly in over the fields, shrouding the crops in the gray of a drab winter day," follows in a close second, but it doesn't have the invoking feeling or darkness and gloominess.
