Answer:

C. The Berlin Blockade

Step-by-step explanation:

The Berlin Blockade was an effort done by the Soviet regime and the communist supported government of East Berlin to isolate the other half of the city- that lay to the Western capitalist allies.

The city was isolated for political and social ambitions of spreading communism into the whole city. A quick move made suddenly railways, roads and access by water cut.

Stalin mistakenly believed that the move would make West leave Berlin it to its fate, but rather than communism growing popularity this caused a major international crisis that could have escalated.

With the Berlin Airlift, the Blockade failed and tensions between the USSR and the US would continue to prevail in other scenarios.

The Berlin Blockade lasted from 24 June 1948 and ended 12 May 1949.

Berlin remained a divided city, until many decades to come.
