All you do is solve for W.
you need to isolate the variable, and to do that you multiply by 18 on each side
the /18 and the *18 will cancel each other out, leaving W by itself. Then 3*18 is equal to 54
W=54

If you want to solve for w:
w/18= 3
multiply both sides by 18
(w/18)(18)= (3)(18)
18 "cancels out" on the left side
w= 54
CHECK
54/18= 3
3= 3
ANSWER: w= 54
Hope this helps! :)
