Last weekend , 5% of tickets sold at sea world were discount tickets. If seaworld sold 60 tickets in all , how many discount tickets did it sell? Use the percent proportion

So lets take a look at what we know:

5% of the tickets were discount
100% of the tickets is equal to 60 tickets

From this information we can create the proportion:


(x)/(5) = (60)/(100).

Cross Multiply to get
100x=300

Divide 100 on each side to get
x=3 .

Three discount tickets were sold.
