Remark
15% = 15/100 as a fraction. So 100% - 15% = 85%
85% of the original price = 45 dollars.
Let the original price = x
85% as a decimal = 85/100 = 0.85

Solution
85% * x = 45
0.85x = 45 Divide by 0.85
x = 45 / 0.85
x = 52.94 <<<<< answer

Problem 2
Gavin = x
Saiji = y

x + y = 600
x - y = 30 Add
2x = 630 Divide by 2
x = 315 Answer
315 - y = 30 Subtract 315 from both sides
- y = - 285
y = 285 Answer

Gavin Earned 315 dollars.
Seiji earned 285 dollars

The graphs are below.
