The perimeter of a rectangle is 162 ft. The ratio of the length of the width is 5:4. Find the length of the rectangle

The sum of length and width will be half the perimeter: 81 ft.

The ratio of length to width tells us length is 5/(5+4) = 5/9 of the total of length and width.

The length of the rectangle is (5/9)*(81 ft) = 45 ft.
