Patients often prefer privacy when it comes to being weighed. They may be embarrassed, in denial, or angry about their weight. How can you communicate, provide privacy, and demonstrate sensitivity to a patient?

It is important for a patient to be weigh in order to have a baseline weight however patients may experience embarrassment, be angry or deny their weight. One can show privacy through proper communication and being sensitive to the patient by having a gentle approach like asking them questions in private in regard to how comfortable they are in their weight and if they tried losing weight.
