There were 2 significant compromises made at the Constitutional convention, including:
A) Connecticut (Great) Compromise: This compromise made it so that both small and large states had significant power in the federal government. This compromise made it so that the number of representatives in the House of Representatives was based on a states population. Along with this every state, regardless of size, would have 2 representatives in the Senate.
B) 3/5ths Compromise: This compromise was made in regards to how slaves would count towards a states population. At this time, every 5 slaves would count as 3 people towards a states population. This ensured that the Southern states would be able to gain more representatives based on their slave population.
