Each of the aforementioned presidents expanded the power of the federal government.
For example, Abraham Lincoln passed the Emancipation Proclamation which was supposed to free slaves in the Confederate States of America. At this time, it was considered a significant increase in the political power of the president.
Franklin D. Roosevelt also expanded the federal governments power by implementing the New Deal. These policies involved the federal government getting involved with the stock market, economy, and creating jobs for individuals during the Great Depression.
Lastly, Lyndon B. Johnson expanded the power of the federal government through his Great Society programs. This called for the government to play a bigger role in providing medical care and quality schooling for individuals all over the United States.
