They will become "Osteoblasts and begin to deposit bone matrix".

Perichondrium refers to a membrane which is made of connective tissue that covers cartilage and if we look at early bone development, perichondrium may be function as a reservoir of mesenchymal stem cells that can grow into osteoblasts, adipocytes and chondrocytes.
