After taking over as secretary genera of KCA after the ww1, Jomo Kenyatta embarked on a campaign to articulate Kenyan grievances abroad, a campaign that targeted land alienation, and other exploitation of the British in Kenya. Jomo kenyatta returned decades later and organized a national wide organization known as kau and later kanu, which was partly radical and partly conventional in its quest for independence. Some members of the kanu party organized the mau mau, for which Kenyatta was imprisoned for until independence days.
