Which of the following ratio is equivalent to 3/16? a. 16:3

b. 3 to 19
c. 15/21
d. 15 out of 80

The answer is A because in order to convert a fraction to a ratio, you first write down the numerator which in this case is 3. Then you write a colon to separate the 2 numbers and write down the denominator which is 16. So in the ratio would be 3:16 or 16:3. In some cases, you may have to simplify the ratio, but in this case, it cannot be simplified any further, so A is the right answer

If one ratio is equivalent to another, that means that you multiply the top and the bottom on one ratio by a constant to get the larger ratio. D does that here for us. We have to multiply 3 by 5 to get to 15, so 16 times 5 better be 80 and it is.
