C. "Everybody wishes one, and it is very select; not many are given to employees."

Mr. Loisel sees the invitation as a rare opportunity. He does not think that he will get this opportunity to go to a higher class party ever again. He is excited that he has found a way to do something wonderful for his wife, since he knows she longs to be a member of high society.

The Correct answer for PF students would be " Everybody wishes one, and it is very select; not many are given to employees."
