x + 23 + 2x + 4 = 180

We need to count letters with letters and numbers with numbers


x + 23 + 2x + 4 = 180\\ \\ 2x+27= 180

Now it's simple, we have to izolate the unknown in the left side, and evrything go in the right side with the oppsite sign, unless it's already there. So 27 will turn in -27 and 180 will remaind exactly like this.


3x+27= 180\\ \\ 3x=180-27 \\\\  3x=153

Divide all with 3


3x=153 /3 \\\\  x=51
