problem N 1
if the question is
On a number line, let point p represent the largest integer value that is less than 407. point q represent the largest integer value that is less than 68 . what is the distance between p and q

step 1
find the value of p
we know that
point p represent the largest integer value that is less than 407
so
p=407-1-----> p=406

step 2
find the value of q
point q represent the largest integer value that is less than 68
so
q=68-1-----> q=67

step 3
find the distance between p and q

p=406
q=67
so
distance=p-q-----> 406-67-----> distance=339 units

the answer is
339 units

Problem N 2
if the question is
On a number line, let P represent the largest integer value that is less than the square root of 407. Let point Q represent the largest integer value that is less than the square root of 68. What is the difference between P and Q?

step 1
find the value of p
we know that
point p represent the largest integer value that is less than the square root of 407
so
√407=20.17
p=20

step 2
find the value of q
point q represent the largest integer value that is less than n the square root of 68
so
√68=8.24
q=8

step 3
find the distance between p and q

p=20
q=8
so
distance=p-q-----> 20-8-----> distance=12 units

the answer is
12 units
