Which equation would best help solve the following problem?
The height of a triangle is 4 m less than its base. The area of the triangle is 48 m2. Find the length of the base.

A. 48 = x(x-4)

B. 48 = x^2-4

C. 48 = 1/29(x)(x-4)

D. 48 = 1/2(x^2-4)

D ) 48=1/2 (x^-4)

x =base x-4=height

A = bxh divided by 2

48 = x(x-4) divided by 2

(x^-4 divided by 2 ) = 1/2 (x^-4)

H (height) - 4 than b (base)
A (area) = 48 m^2

Remember A = 1/2(Length times height)

Therefore I would suggest the answer is D. 48 = 1/2(x^2 -4)
