Answer: The student can change the angle of the pendent, then the angle will be the independent variable. And for each angle he chooses, the ball will travel certain distance, so the "how far the ball will roll down" is the dependent part. But the way this is phrased, the ball will always roll down the whole length of the ramp, and after that will travel certain distance, wich will depend on the angle of the ramp.
