Is the line through points p(8, 4) and q(0, 0) perpendicular to the line through points r(–7, 9) and s(–11, 17)? explain. yes; their slopes have product –1. no, their slopes are not opposite reciprocals. no; their slopes are not equal. yes; their slopes are equal?

slope (m) through p & q = (4 - 0)/(8 - 0) = 4/8 = 1/2
slope (m) through r & s = (17 - 9)/(-11 + 7) = 8/-4 = -2

Yes. Their slopes are opposite reciprocals → so the product of their slopes = -1
