30 is a composite number because its factors are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 10, 15 and 30
If a number has more than 3 factors, then it's composite
hope it helps

30 is a composite number because it can be evenly divided by number other than 30 and 1. (i.e: 30/6=5, 30/5=6, 30/10=3).
An example of prime number would be 5, since it can only be evenly divided by 5 and 1.
